About me
I’m a technical marketing writer in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, with previous experience in technical writing, daily newspaper reporting, and copyediting physics articles. I set this site up for freelancing, but am not currently taking assignments; at some point I might find another purpose for it. Meanwhile, some interesting articles I’ve read recently are listed in the sidebar.
Writing Background
I’ve written online help and user guides and documented research methods and the maintenance of scientific equipment.
My newspaper experience includes handling a geographic beat that included two city governments, several villages and townships, four school districts and a career center, as well as features, crime, and courts. I’ve also written about agriculture news and policy on state and federal levels.
I’ve covered scientific meetings and summarized journal articles for a scientific audience, led introductory college-level physics sections, and written chapters and sample questions for a Physics SAT II test guide.
Science Background
My technical background is in experimental materials science and condensed matter physics. I studied the thermal behavior of metal alloys and metallic glasses and the electrooptic properties of liquid crystals.
